The tango has several styles and variations developed resulting from its adoption in many countries. The most famous, the traditional Argentine Tango may be danced in a closed or an arm length embrace. The leader walks the follower to the music while staying true to its emotion and speed. There is minimal lifting of the feet away from the ground and the knees and ankles brush each other as one leg passes the other. Though the dance has certain movements, there is not a fixed “basic step”, like other dances; the only constant being that the woman is led with the alternate foot and almost never has her weight on both feet at the same time. Unlike other dances, the Tango is an act of communication between the partners in the time that it is performed.
The Tango is a passionate partner dance in which the man holds the woman and leads her through the music. The Arthur Murray New Jersey Dance Studios are a great place to learn the tango at your pace in a comfortable and fun environment with highly trained and certified ballroom dance teachers.
